Lining Types

Arranging corners of strip lining.

Pre-shrinking a loose lining canvas.

Relaxing the turning edges of a strip lined canvas with heat tools.

Trimming canvas for attachment of an inserted loose lining.

Modified Linings

During my course, Structural Treatment of Canvas Paintings, fellow students and I worked on group projects to explore the materials and methods used in partial and modified lining techniques. This included adhering strip linings on flattened and un-flattened turning edges, creating loose linings before stretching the primary canvas, and modified loose linings on the reverse of stretched canvases.
